Meet Red Heaven
Red Heaven is an Ottawa-based four-piece music powerhouse of original rock, blues, and world music. Formed in 2011, they published two hard rock albums (“Amplification” in 2013 and “Moth” in 2015) and a world/ambient EP (“The Undivided Heart” in 2016), and will release another album this summer (“Echolocation”) and another EP to boot (“The Little Temple”). Red Heaven’s Joel Tamas (guitar and voice), Mike McNeil (drums), Tom McMahon (bass), and Rachelle Behrens (voice) bring unique, diverse, and wild songs to the stage in a fun show you’re sure to remember.
About the Band
Joel Tamas works in the Ottawa area as a professional composer, guitarist, singer, and producer. As the founding member of Red Heaven (2010), Joel holds a degree in Music from Waterloo University and brings 30 years of performing all over Canada to the band. Joel has also delved deeply into the world of online performance, giving near 1,500 live shows in the last six years over the internet to audiences worldwide.
Tom McMahon is an accomplished performer, and composer, in the Ottawa/Gatineau area, who has ventured into many styles of music. Tom graduated with honours from Humber College Music Program and along with Baliset also plays acoustic bass, fretless and fretted electric bass. No stranger to the studio, he has recorded with many musicians and vocalists, participated in radio and television programs and entertained local and international audiences in live performances.
Rachelle Behrens is a Chilean-Canadian freelance singer based in Ottawa, Ontario. She’s a dynamic performer with range and heart in English, Spanish, and French, and you’ll find her singing funk, soul, rock, and jazz at festivals such as Jazzfest and Folkfest, and venues all over the National Capital Region (such as the prestigious National Arts Centre). Apart from her own headline performances, she’s a pillar in such local music projects as the Pharoahs, Rapture, Red Heaven, as a guest singer in the Armed Forces Central Band, as well as corporate and freelance shows.
Mike McNeil holds a bachelors degree in music from Carleton University and is a full time professional performing/recording musician based out of Ottawa, Canada. He has toured Canada and The U.S.A. as a professional musician, worked as a cruise ship show band musician, worked as a graduation recital adjudicator for the Carleton University Music Program and since becoming full time in 2007, has performed on over 1000 gigs/recordings in a wide range of musical styles both locally and abroad at major music festivals, concert halls, event centers, special events, weddings, restaurants and more.
